Below are the new features made in the RPC Client Access role in Exchange Server 2010:-
1. Internal clients will now connect to Exchange 2010 Client Access Server, unlike Exchange Server 2010 where Outlook clients directly connects to the Exchange
2007 Mailbox server. This functionality provides consistency, failover
support and higher number of concurrent connections and mailboxes per
server.
2. Exchange 2010 clients will only be disconnected for 30 seconds when Mailbox server fails, unlike Exchange 2007 where clients were disconnected between 1-15 minutes in case Exchange 2007 Mailbox server is down.
3. Exchange 2010 provides failover support in the sense that if one Client Access server is down, other Client Access server in the array will take over the role and clients will be reconnected to another Client Access server.
