Some organizations have third-party email system with Exchange
servers, or situations may arise when you need to enable routing
between different Active Directory forests. In both scenarios, user's
domain name suffix remains same. To implement this scenario in your
environment, you will have to:-
· Create a Send Connector to route e-mail to the shared domain, and
· Create a new Internal Relay domain
How to Create a Send Connector for the Shared domain
1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
2. Expand Organization Configuration and select Hub Transport.
3. Click the Send Connectors tab in the work pane and click on New Send Connector from the Action pane.
4. On the Introduction page, enter any meaningful name for this connector, and select either of these option:-
· Internal for Exchange 2010 organizations, and
· Internet for third-party e-mail system
Click Next.
5. On the Address space page, click Add and enter the domain name to which this connector will send mail, like techpeoples.net or *.techpeoples.net. Click Ok when finished.
6. On the Network settings page, select Route mail through the following smart hosts and click Add.
7. In the Add Smart Host box, enter name of IP address of the smart host and click on Next.
8. On the Configure smart host authentication settings page, select any authentication method and then click Next.
9. On the Source Server page, click Add
to add a source server. By default, the source server name will be
listed as the name of this server where you are currently working on.
10 Review the configuration settings and click on New.
11. Click Finish on the completion.
How to create an Internal Relay Domain
1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
2. Expand Organization Configuration and select Hub Transport.
3. Click the Accepted Domains tab in the work pane and click New Accepted Domain from the Action pane.
4. Enter any meaningful name and in the Accepted Domain field, enter domain name, like techpeoples.net or *.techpeoples.net to accept all subdomains.
5. Select Internal Relay Domain option and click on New.
6. Click on Finish after completion.
