Transport agents are generally installed during application installations that are designed to work with Exchange Server 2010. But sometimes, companies require their own transport agents for having more control on mail flows through Exchange 2010 organization.
We can install any Microsoft software, 3rd party software or developed by your own organization on Exchange Server2010. This software will then process all e-mails passing through Hub Transport or Edge Transport server.
Exchange Server 2010 also supports specifying the priority of each transport agents installed on the Exchange Servers so that we can we can control which agent acts first on a message.
Microsoft has provided SDK for developers building customize Transport agents for their Exchange 2010 organizations. Â You can download TransportAgentsSDK.msi from here.
