How to configure message size limits in Exchange Server 2010

Transport Settings in Exchange Server 2010 is used to apply message size restrictions.
1. Open the Exchange Management Console.
2. Expand Organization Configuration and click on Hub Transport.
3. Click on the Global Settings in the result pane.
4. Open the Properties of Transport Settings, as shown below.
5. In the General tab, you can specify the custom message settings:-
· Maximum receive size (KB) specifies the maximum message size that any recipient can receive. The default size is 10240 KB (10 MB), and it can range from 0 to 2097151 KB.
· Maximum send size (KB) specifies the maximum message size that any recipient can send. The default size is 10240 KB (10 MB), and it can range from 0 to 2097151 KB.
· Maximum number of recipients specifies maximum number of recipients in a message. The default number is 5000. This can range from 0 to 2147483647.
· Maximum size per mailbox database (MB) is the maximum size of the transport dumpster per storage group. The default size is 18 MB and can range from 0 to 2097151 MB.
· Maximum retention time (days) is the maximum number of days that messages should remain in the transport dumpster. The default value is 7 days, can range from 0 to 24855 days.
